AHF Members Populate Becker’s Hospital Review “Great Community Hospitals” List

We are thrilled, but not surprised, to see so many AHF member organizations recognized on the 2025 Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Great Community Hospitals” list. This recognition is a powerful reminder of the critical role community hospitals play in delivering compassionate, high-quality care across the country and how essential self-operated foodservice teams are to that mission. These hospitals exemplify what it means to serve with excellence, not only through clinical care but through every touchpoint of the patient, staff, and visitor experience.

At AHF, we know that food and nutrition are the cornerstone of healing and our members deliver care, compassion, nourishment, and comfort with each and every plate they deliver and every warm greeting in the cafe.

It is no surprise to us that so many AHF members, and even more self-operated organizations, earned a spot on Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Great Community Hospitals” list. Because when hospitals prioritize patient care, staff wellbeing, and visitor support, self-operated foodservice and AHF membership are vital to that mission.

One standout on this list is Endeavor Health in Evanston, Illinois, where culinary excellence is front and center. In 2024, Executive Chef Wes Lieberher and Sous Chef Mynor Garcia earned first place in AHF’s National Culinary Competition, claiming the title of 2024 National Healthcare Culinary Champions. That level of skill and innovation elevates the entire dining experience for patients, guests, and staff.

Another shining example is Memorial Hospital in Marysville, Ohio. Becker’s specifically highlighted their “Mobile Meals program, a perfect example of how foodservice at community hospitals extends beyond the walls of the facility and into the community itself. With AHF Membership Chair, Memorial Hospital Director of Food and Nutrition, David Roebke leading the way, foodservice doesn’t stop at the patient tray, it’s part of public health, connection, and healing.

At Midland Memorial Hospital in Texas, Kaitlyn Greb, Director of Food and Nutrition, has championed for her staff and advanced self-operated foodservice through mentorship, innovation, and strategic use of AHF resources. Kaitlyn is a dedicated member of AHF’s Editorial Advisory Board and was named as the 2024 AHF Future Horizon Award Winner for her outstanding leadership.

These are just a few stories behind the recognition. Each AHF member on this year’s list exemplified the impact of self-operation on quality care and employee satisfaction. Stories where foodservice leaders are embedded in the culture, aligned with the mission, and empowered to make a difference!

Congratulations to All Those Recognized on This Year’s List for the Important Work You Are Doing to Serve Your Communities!

A Special “Shout Out” to all of the AHF Members Highlighted!

Behind every great community hospital is a team of people who understand that quality care goes far beyond clinical treatment. Food and nutrition services touch everyone in the hospital:

Self-operated foodservice teams can respond faster, service more thoughtfully, and operate in alignment with their hospital’s values.

We are proud to see our members recognized and even prouder to watch them lead the way in advancing the quality, dignity, and impact of healthcare foodservice and senior dining!
