During AHF’s most recent webinar, members of Multicare Health System’s Nutrition Services System Leadership team presented their strategic roadmap over the past five years as their system transitioned back to self-op from a contract company. They discussed focusing on economies of scale and standardization for growth and success. By activating a system-wide contract and menu standardization the system saw a 19% increase in cash revenue and over 8% decrease in subsidy.
The Multicare team outlined ways in which they monitored and regulated contract and vendor management, standardized recipe utilization, as well as ordering and receiving procedures, and ultimately garnered buy-in and support from employees. They also discussed the importance of utilizing KPIs, dashboards, and tools, such as AHF’s Benchmarking ExpressTM, when communicating with the C-Suite and sharing your department’s challenges and successes.
