A Comprehensive Look into Healthcare and Senior Dining Foodservice & Hospitality over the Last Year

AHF is thrilled to announce the release of the 2023 State of the Industry Report (STIR). STIR offers a comprehensive analysis of the ever-evolving landscape of foodservice and hospitality in healthcare and senior dining provided by industry leaders based on data gathered from the 2023 industry survey. AHF’s annual report is a critical tool for operator and business partner members alike to benchmark and gain high level insight into the industry.

As with past reports, this year’s survey focuses on the operator experience. With labor challenges continuing to be a significant concern for many operators, the report delves into the operator’s day-to-day as they navigate labor shortages and respond to financial pressures.

One notable highlight from this year’s report was that more than half of the operators surveyed indicated that they had plans for significant changes to their operations, underscoring the dynamic nature of an industry adapting to evolving patient and resident needs.

New to this year’s survey and report, operators were surveyed about the implementation of AI, robotics, and technology in their operations. The use of advanced technologies in patient facing services, retail, and other operations is not something that had previously been explored in past reports but provides key insights into the future direction of the industry. However, questions remain regarding the effectiveness and widespread adoption of robotic technology in healthcare foodservice.
