Interested in AHF Leadership?
Serving on the AHF Board or in a leadership role is an exciting career opportunity and a meaningful way to give back to the self-operated industry. AHF is proud to lead the way in self-operated healthcare, senior dining, and hospitality. Our Board members, volunteers, and chapter leaders reflect this commitment.
AHF is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization and follows nonprofit best practices to ensure a diverse and representative leadership team. AHF elections are overseen by the Leadership Development Committee (LDC), which includes the Immediate Past President (Chair), current President, two elected LDC members, and one Board-appointed operator member. The IAB Chair and Executive Director serve as advisors.
Call for Nominations
Each year, AHF opens nominations for available positions on the Board and the LDC. Members may nominate themselves for consideration. Typically, service on an AHF committee (for at least one year) or in chapter leadership is required prior to Board candidacy. These experiences help prepare individuals for higher-level leadership roles.
Once nominations are submitted, the LDC reviews each one to ensure candidates meet the qualifications for the position. Please note that not all nominees may be selected to run each year due to the limited number of positions and the strength of our member base. Persistence is encouraged!
Elections
After the ballot is reviewed and ratified by the Board, elections are opened to eligible voters for a 2–3 week period. Each operator site membership and each retired member may cast one vote. Business partners, affiliates, students, and educators are not eligible to vote.
Once results are finalized and candidates are notified, AHF announces the election outcomes to the full membership. Newly elected leaders will begin their terms on January 1, 2026.
